长春市中心医院始建于1948年，座落在长春市中心的人民大街64号，目前已成为集医疗、预防、教学、科研为一体的一所综合性医院，并且，以急诊急救为特色。长春市中心医院是吉林省具有高水平的医院之一。
医院占地面积11,318平方米，建筑面积40,338平方米，目前，是长春地区唯一的急诊急救中心，开通“120”电话之后，每年接收急诊病人为60,000余人次，其中收容入院人数占住院病人总人数的45.8%。大多数患者为外伤、心脑血管疾病。急救中心的医务人员每天出诊70次左右。现急救中心及相关部门面积为4,800平方米。
医院现有职工1,480人，其中，高级卫生技术人员145人。开放病床700张，年门诊量为56万余人。年住院人数为10,000人。医院有固定资产1.1亿元。全院共有5万元以上重要大型设备82台件，如日本产8430型遥测心电监护仪，德国产HiQ-S型CT机，美国产128XP/10型彩色B超，日本产日立7150型全自动生化分析仪等。
Changchun Central Hospital, built in 1948, with characteristic of first-aid treatment, is of the largest, general hospital in Changchun City, which is responsible for medical care, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care and becomes the major driving force in setting and maintaining a high standard of medicine in Jinlin province. Over many years, the hospital has centred closely on the subject that “set the patients above everything, create excellent service, cultivate professional new atmosphere”, striven for one of 100 “Excellent National Hospitals”, and has won the popularity from patients and all works of life by offering high quality services and medical care. The hospital has been awarded Advanced Unit of Ministry of National Public Health, one of ten excellent hospitals in Jilin province, and a civilized service unit in Jinlin province, ect. The principal methods are as follows.
1. In order to realize the general goal of becoming one of 100 excellent hospitals in China, we put great emphasis on offering high quality “window” Dept. service, including Internal and surgical Out-patient Dept., General Treatment Dept., Emergency Dept., Registration & Payment & Admission & Discharge Dept. and so on. The hospital has taken further steps to prefect the related checking systems by starting from disciplining language and behavior of the medical staff, define leaders’ responsibility, and has achieved the goal by stages. The measures taken above have brought fruitful results.
2. Taking reform as motive force , aiming at patients’ satisfaction, the hospital has tried in every way to produce a convenient, graceful, prompt medical environment and implemented more than 20 new measures, such as: transformed the hall of Out-patient Dept. in the largest scale since its establishment in 1948; made medical service system open to the public; practised the methods of giving immediate attention and admission to emergency cases before paying and going through concerning procedures; keeping on consulting all year round, even on holidays and vacations; carried out an “elastic working system” and prolonged working time; established nursing supervision regulations ; practised computerized administration; set up machines for inquiring medical fee; found a price-inspecting group; laid down a principle of purchasing medicine and medical appliances; perfected the regulations of group consultations; intensified the standardization of making the rounds of the wards , etc .
